What could be a more domestic image than a table laid for a family dinner? In the work by Bruna Esposito (b. 1960, Rome) we see everyday objects like these take on a new meaning. When you look at the table more closely, you see the harrowing images of refugees on their way to Lampedusa. The dinnerware, encrusted with salt, is a crystalline memory of better times. Of a warm home, of a past that many have lost forever during the crossing.
