Sketch artist Fabien Mérelle (b. 1981, Fontenay-sous-Bois) leads us to a dream world featuring himself. We see him rendered vulnerable and sometimes unsure, ambushed by his own demons. In this reality, the animal kingdom once again reigns over humankind. As a punishment, the artist grows donkey’s ears and floats around on a raft, isolated. The drawings transcend their functionality as self-portraits, and evoke memories of our own nightmares, fantasies, and fears.

Voor Het Vlot maakte Mérelle een levensgrote versie hij van zijn tekening Le Radeau de Fortune. Op de zeilen van het vlot worden beelden van de kunstenaar geprojecteerd.
