JORGE MOLDER

In his work, photographer Jorge Molder (b. 1947, Lisbon) likes to play around with huge works from the artistic canon. For these fourteen self-portraits – one for each of the fourteen survivors from The Raft of the Medusa – he took inspiration from the fear and desperation they had to face up to. Besides that, Molder copied the expressive, desperate and dumbstruck facial expressions and body language of each one of the drowning people on Géricault’s raft.
